so its march hols, perhaps im a bit more emo and stuff, so i should dedicate more time to this blog.
IP-mainstream divide has been quite an interesting topic lately. its really weird when u have friends in the mainstream, but yet the IPs in general dont like the mainstream, while the mainstream dont like the IPs. okay.. this is not some propaganda speech.
so mainstreams thinks that we are the aliens in NJC, using more money, using more space, "wasting resources", but most importantly, they think we are an arrogant bunch who dont deserve so much attention from the school. the existence of this programme (not students)just impedes the overall development of the school.
on the other hand, IP thinks, we should be special, or else why should we be called IP students? to a certain extent, we have been in an accelerated programme for the past two years and now we have to slow down to fit and move along with the mainstream.
and from the college admin's point of view. they are the idealist. what they hope is for both communities to gel and develop together. but like what one of my mainstream friends said "we always fall short from our social goals". personally, i think the efforts of the college admin is really futile or not THAT effective. like putting IPs and mainstream classes together for lectures or PE. for lectures, there is no time for any "interaction" of any sort. for PE, its sad to say, the IP people are still playing within their own community (when it is a free period of course).
being an IP3 OGL is kind of the middle man. i mean, when u know both the mainstream and IP well, it really puts u in a difficult position. on the personal level, we can all be friends, but on the higher (ideological) level, it is another story. its like the situation in middle east now.about 5 years ago, it is a common thing to see inter-racial friendships between Shi'tes and Sunnis (just tribe names of middle east), but now, they are like fighting because of some friction and ideological differences.
i do agree on the point that we are being too idealistic at times, ultimately, IPs and mainstream are two communities. but i think there should at least be an understanding or a "entente cordiale" of some sort between two communities. after all, we are still under one roof, we should be friendly to each other in some way. no point scrutinizing each other for two years.
really want to do something about this... but oh wells, im just a small little fry in this community and my words dont carry as much weight. perhaps i should voice this out at the principal dialogue session next time. for these two years, im kind of acting like the "opposition" of the college admin. just dont understand what these guys sitting at G.O doing everyday. these kind of problem will really kick their ass if they dont come up with a solution quick.
