So, I decided to blog on the first day of the lunar year of pig. First of all, want to wish u guys who are reading this a happy chinese new year and a great "mugging" year ahead.

I don't know what to say for what happpened in the past two months. Time really flies, some of us are still having this post-orientation syndrome at the start of february, as though orientation ended only a day ago. Orientation was like a dream, you just don't want it to end. Sadly, dreams are always shattered by the cruelty of reality.

Sometimes, I really don't understand what is SO good about the lecture-tutorial system. For some subjects, the lectures are ahead of the tutorials while some are on par with each other. In particular for chem, the lectures are freakin slow, we are studying things for the third time! For some of us, perhaps it is time for some revision of the past work that we had done, but the problem is, we are treated like a bunch of gwun-dos walking into the LT knowing nothing at all and expected to be "fascinated" by the new stuff that we are going to learn. The IP programme is to accelerate us in learning by learning some A levels stuff in the past two years, but now, we are being deccelerated! What's the point of forcing us to study so much high level stuff, when we are going to be go back to square one when we enter IP3? There is nothing that makes us special apart from the fact that we only have one subject in our O levels cert and they have 9 or 10.

Talking about IP, it seems to me that the IP-mainstream divide is getting worse and the college administration and the council is doing nothing much about it. To rub salt onto the wound, MOE decided to ban all IP1,2s from participating in competition together with the mainstream people in A division competition. In my opinion, the best way to salvage this situation is to have more house activities, but I think houses are not active enough, mainly because they take quite some time to plan every NE-related activity, so they are really busy. But then again, what are house affliates for? Elected house affliates are like the "reinforcements" of HAT, an extra branch below the HAT, they can be "mobilised" anytime to help the house to do stuff, so wouldn't this reduce the burden of HAT to plan more activities?
